healthy. On April 30th, 1915, a third of the City was
devastated by fire which destroyed 430 buildings,
covering twenty-two blocks, and involving a loss of
property to the value of $3iOOO,ooo. The fire extended

dynamite to check its course.
As the steamer approaches the shore she passes
between two breakwaters. The great breakwater which
extends from Toro Point and protects the Atlantic

2,840,000 cubic yards of rock were used in its con-
