The study upon which this paper is based investigated challenges and\nopportunities for developing local food production systems in Sint Maarten, to build resilience\nand diversify its economy. We applied mixed methods; interviews, expert meetings, and\nparticipatory action research. After a first analytical cycle, we validated and adapted our\ninitial explanatory model, to subsequently carry out the main investigation. We found\nsystems interacting within a context lacking capacity and resources, creating negative\nfeedback effects.
